At Scranton High School, the teachers care about you and want to see you succeed. Teachers will know if you are having a bad day. The worst part of the school day are the students misbehaving. I would like to see a change in the students and how some teachers will react to situations.

Overall, being a part of the SSD has made me very grateful. Our district is ruled by minority and immigrant children/families. The SSD is surrounded, though, by districts that have a predominantly white & wealthy population. Growing up in the environment that the SSD provided was not the easiest, but it provided education that extended beyond the classroom. You can teach a class about culture, but seeing one of your schoolmates relate to such topics brings it to life. Seeing different cultures right in front of my face, learning different customs, trying different foods, and learning to be mindful of it all is something i will carry with me through my lifetime. Because of our student body being immigrants, many families were low income. Therefore our district is considered one of poverty. The worst part of the SSD would simply be the money factor. Corruption comes at the cost of the students, but never for the people in charge. I hope one day the kids get the benefits they deserve.

My experience at West Scranton High School has been satisfactory. One of the positive things I have experienced is the teachers. I have met many teachers who have helped me through the school year. Another thing I like is that my school is an active member in helping out the community. In school, we have clubs such as the Red Cross Club and Community Service Club. These two clubs help out in the Scranton community by holding blood drives twice a year and even volunteering at different events year around. One of the negative aspects of West Scranton High is the food that is available in the cafeteria. I would like to see more change with the cleanliness and food quality. I believe it is great that they offer free breakfast and lunch to all students. However, many times either me or a classmate had received food with mold on it or it looked stale. To conclude, I believe West Scranton High school has both pros and cons to it.
